It is thought that Canon Dwyer wrote six books. Known titles include:

  • A Handbook to Lisdoonvarna and its Vicinity, with map and woodcuts; Hodges, Foster & Co., Dublin, 1876, 118 pages. A detailed account of the curative waters and tours to places of interest in County Clare. New edition of 1000 copies published 1998 by Clasp Press, County Clare.   • The Diocese of Killaloe from the Reformation to the Close of the 18th Century; Hodges, Foster & Figgis, Dublin, 1878, 602 pages.
  • The Siege of Londonderry in 1689 [as set forth in the literary remains of George Walker]; edited by P. Dwyer, 1893, 225 pages. Reprinted 1971 by Wakefield, S. R. Publishers with a new introduction by E. R. R. Green
